Description
Eastern Beebalm (Monarda bradburiana), also known as Bradbury’s beebalm and Bradbury’s Monarda, is a beautiful native wildflower that brings soft color and pollinator activity to late spring gardens. Its clusters of pale lavender to pinkish-purple flowers sit above aromatic foliage and create a relaxed, natural look in prairie plantings.
Like other members of the mint family, the leaves release a pleasant herbal scent when crushed. The nectar-rich blooms attract a wide range of pollinators including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Eastern Beebalm grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soils, including clay or rocky sites. It is more drought tolerant than many other Monarda species, making it a great choice for prairie plantings, pollinator gardens, and naturalized landscapes where it adds early-season color and ecological value.
