Description
The Beneficial Bee Blend provides season-long forage and shelter for honeybees, bumblebees, and native solitary bees. It’s designed to start blooming early and continue through fall, with 20+ nectar- and pollen-rich wildflowers supported by native grasses.
Early bloomers like Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea) and Foxglove Beardtongue (Penstemon digitalis) kick things off in late spring, while species like Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa), and Prairie Blazing Star (Liatris pycnostachya) carry color through summer. Late-season standouts such as Smooth Aster (Symphyotrichum laeve), Skyblue Aster (Symphyotrichum oolentangiense), Stiff Goldenrod (Solidago rigida), and Gray-headed Coneflower (Ratibida pinnata) extend blooms into fall, ensuring bees can find food when it’s needed most.
Adaptable to full to partial sun and dry to mesic soils, this mix performs well in gardens, meadows, roadsides, and conservation projects. Native grasses like Sideoats Grama (Bouteloua curtipendula), Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) and Blue Grama (Bouteloua gracilis) provide structure, nesting habitat, and long-term stability.
The result is a layered, continuously blooming planting that supports pollinators from the first warm days of spring through the end of the growing season, while also attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial insects.
