Description
Bottle Gentian (Gentiana andrewsii) is named for its tight clusters of two‑foot‑tall, bottle‑shaped flowers that remain closed until bumblebees—one of the few pollinators strong enough—push aside the petals to reach the hidden nectar. You’ll most often spot it in moist areas near ponds, streams, and wet meadows, where its deep‑blue blooms pop from late summer through mid‑autumn and add a splash of color to the fall landscape.
It’s an animal‑resistant perennial that keeps coming back year after year, thriving in full to partial sun and medium‑wet to medium soil.
